Sage Saankdi Top

Saankdi embroidery gets its name from the chain-like loops it forms, sprays of thread fanning out from a single point, like grass bending after rain. Here, in soft white against sage-green Kala Cotton, those sprays sit scattered across the front yoke, never quite matched, because that's how hands work, not machines. A small mirror-like French knot anchors each spray at its centre. The shirt is cut easy: a mandarin collar, full button placket, and sleeves gathered soft into a three-quarter puff. Below the yoke, gentle gathers take over, marked by a quiet running-stitch line that echoes again at the hem. Kala Cotton, hand-loomed and slightly slubbed, holds its shape up top and softens into movement below.

WASH & PRODUCT CARE

Wash Care

Handspun, handloom, and naturally dyed garments are made to age beautifully, with the right care, they only get better over time. We recommend washing this garment separately to preserve its colour and craft.

  • Do not bleach
  • Do not rub harshly: handle with a gentle hand
  • Handwash in cold water
  • If machine washing, use a mesh bag on a gentle cycle, cold water, not more than 25 minutes, with a mild detergent
  • Shade dry: do not expose to direct sunlight as it may cause variation in colour
  • Iron or steam on low to medium heat
  • For embroidered and mirror work pieces, turn the garment inside out before washing

NOTE: Colour bleeding is normal in naturally dyed and indigo dyed garments during the initial washes, after which the colours stabilise. The gradual fading of natural dyes is not a flaw — it is the nature of the cloth, resulting in graceful, honest colour over time. Each wash is part of the garment's story.
